Pagar Alam, South Sumatra – AKOR has embarked on a mission to strengthen agricultural progress through collaboration. In addition to marketing, one of the key challenges in the industry is production – ensuring a continuous supply of high-quality
agricultural products that meet the preferences of buyers. While South Sumatra is Indonesia’s largest contributor to coffee production in terms of quantity, there is a critical aspect to address: the quality of the produce.
In partnership with the Land Office of Pagar Alam City, AKOR conducted a Coffee Marketing Access Assistance program, focusing on two crucial areas: introducing alternative markets and providing post-harvest education. Among the vital stages in coffee post-harvesting is the grading or sorting phase, which plays a significant role in determining coffee quality.
This collaborative effort brought together farmers from Agung Lawangan and Talang Kromo, Pagar Alam, South Sumatra – INA, with the goal of enhancing their knowledge and skills in coffee bean sorting. The training equipped them with the ability to identify and sort coffee beans according to specific quality standards, particularly focusing on “defect value.”
By empowering local farmers with this expertise, AKOR seeks to elevate the quality of coffee production in South Sumatra and ensure that the region continues to excel in supplying premium coffee beans to the market. The partnership with the Land Office of Pagar Alam City exemplifies AKOR’s commitment to advancing the agricultural sector and fostering sustainable practices.
AKOR firmly believes that collective effort is essential to achieve significant agricultural progress. Through initiatives such as “Agrarian Reform Access 2023,” initiated by the Pagar Alam City Land Agency, it can be the first step in building a strong agricultural ecosystem that provides benefits to farmers, meets the demands of smart buyers, and drives the country’s agricultural exports to higher levels.
